Slide Show View

Use the Slide Show view to preview or run your slide show.

  • If you use the Slide Show button on the View toolbar, PowerPoint will start the show with the selected slide.  To leave Slide Show view before the end of the show, press the Escape (Esc) key.

  • To run an on-screen slide show from the beginning, from the Slide Show menu, choose View Show.

  • To set up a slide show, from the Slide Show menu, choose Set Up Show.  Use this dialog box to turn on automatic slide timings if you set them.  To run an automatic advance slide show continuously, check “Loop continuously until Escape.”  To end a continuous slide show, press the Escape key.

Tips for Delivering your Slide Show

  • To use the manual advance, click the mouse or press the right arrow key to advance each slide.  To back up in the slide show, use the left arrow key on the keyboard.  If you set bulleted points to build individually, click the mouse to advance each point.

  • If you wish to highlight points in your presentation as you speak, type the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/p.  Your mouse pointer will become a pen icon you can use to write on your slides.  To change your mouse back to an arrow, type Ctrl/a.  When you leave a slide, the “pen” writing will disappear.  You can also erase the pen writing by typing the letter ”e”.

  • To pause during the slide show for discussion, press the “w” key.  The screen will become white.  To return to the slide show, press the “w” key again.

  • To end a slide show and return to the previous view, press the Escape key.

  • To go to an individual slide in the slide show, click the control panel icon, (the triangle that appears when you point your mouse at the lower left corner of the slide).  Choose Go To, By Title.
